05. Cleaning Frenzy
Hello friends! I want you to picture the intensity of spring cleaning, but make it the first week of February and focused on the kitchen. That’s pretty much what this past week has been for me. There were a bunch of cleaning/organizing things building up that I wanted to tackle, mostly in the kitchen, and dedicating a week to it seemed like the right thing to do.
Top priority on my list of things to do was rearranging the placement of things in the kitchen. There wasn’t a “flow” that I liked. Some things that I used often, like my Pyrex containers, were out of the way and very inconvenient to get to. I rearranged some cabinets and the pantry in a way that I hope will make moving around the kitchen more streamlined going forward. I don’t know if the locations of things that I have right now will stay, but it works for now. I also tackled cleaning pretty much the rest of the kitchen with various vinegar concoctions. The oven, the microwave, and the sink are now squeaky clean and the counters ready for all the sourdough that will grace them in the near future. It seems like such a small thing, but I have made it a point to go to bed every night with a neat kitchen, and it just makes the start of my day that much better.
A little side quest I had this week was making my family’s homemade chex mix recipe! We made some for Christmas when my mom visited and I still had some half-full boxes of all the chex, pretzels, and cashews taking up space in the pantry. I had really been craving a salty snack and I thought this fit the bill quite perfectly, and would clear up some storage space.
That’s all for now, catch you next week!
