12. Weeding

Hello friends ! Its been slowly getting warmer and warmer on average. I think most days now have highs in the mid-fifties. I noticed some little green sprouts in the planter areas by the front of the house. But these planters all still had the dead and dried stalks and things from the previous year’s growth. I thought I’d spend some time this week to make it pretty and make room for the new growth! I found a tarp and some yard tools in the garage. There is a pile of yard waste in the backyard that I planned on just adding to. I weeded and cleaned up the area, dumping all the waste on the tarp. I was then able to fold up all the corners of the tarp and drag it to the backyard and dump all the debris into the pile. The whole thing didn’t take me too long, maybe just over an hour. The smallest things can make the biggest difference though! I feel like the area looks so much better. I am excited to see what plants are going to grow. There is one plant growing where all the sprouts are connected to a thick, stump-like root system. I’ve never seen anything like it before so I am curious what it’ll look like in a couple of weeks.

This week also marked the start of the softball season for RIT. With the season being canceled last year due to COVID, Melissa has the opportunity to play this year. I never thought there would be a time where she’d be playing and I wouldn’t be able to go to the games. It’s been hard not being able to support from the sidelines. Fortunately, most of the games so far have been live-streamed and I’ve been able to watch from the west coast. It’s not the same as being there, but I find myself texting her all the things I’d yell during the games if I was actually there. They’re of course read post play, but it’s kinda similar, right? lol I at least tell myself that so don’t burst my bubble please, thanks!
