15. Starting to Pack

The only important thing I have to share this week is that I was starting to pack for my trip back to the east coast! I am so excited. By the time this comes out there will only be twelve more days until I am on a plane heading to Rochester! It’s so close I can’t believe it, but I also want it to be happening tomorrow already!!

By the time I leave, I want to have all of my belongings packed up. When Melissa and I come back to Spokane to get all my stuff, I want it to be in a state where all we have to do is put everything in the car and the UHAUL and hit the road. I think after this past week I’m on a pretty good track to hit that goal. I got a suitcase from Target and packed it up with clothes to see if I’d need to bring a carry-on as well. I’m going to be traveling around for about a month and a half or so before moving my stuff down to Colorado. With all our plans and the things I am going to need, I am going to bring a small duffel of clothes as well just to be safe. Want to hear an overview of our moving plans? They are kind of complicated and require a lot of logistics but I think everything will come together well.

So first things first I am flying to Rochester at the beginning of May. I am going to quarantine and get tested to make sure my travel was safe. Then Melissa and I are staying in Rochester through graduation in mid-May. We are packing all of her things into a POD that will be delivered to our apartment at the beginning of June. Then we are going to drive to NH and stay with my family for a little bit. Then we are going to drive to PA and stay with Melissa’s family for a bit. Then we are going to spend memorial day weekend in the Adirondacks in NY. After the long weekend, we are going to make the drive to Colorado, stopping in Clevland, Chicago, and Omaha on the way. Once we get to Colorado we are going to empty the POD and move all of Melissa’s stuff in. Later that week we are going to fly to Spokane, as I mentioned earlier, to get all my stuff to drive to Colorado. We should be fully settled in mid-June! This plan definitely took a lot of planning that started around March, but it all came together nicely and I think it will work out quite well. We will both be able to see our families before heading out west, and hopefully, we won’t get any travel fatigue.

Aside from packing I also got to spend a lot of time outside this past weekend. The weather was absolutely beautiful. I hammocked in a park on Saturday all afternoon working on my crochet project and listening to audiobooks. Sunday morning I spent on my porch and streamed the softball games and crocheted some more. It was great being able to spend all that time soaking in the sun’s rays.

Also! Since mentioning my fudge last week I’ve been having it for dessert every day and it is almost gone now.
