My Q1 Reads
I cannot believe it is already the end of March. Time is flying by. I thought I would take this week to check in with my 2022 reading goal and take a look at my Q1 reads.
This year I want to read 50 books, and by the end of January, I had already read eight! I was sick during this time and wasn’t doing anything but reading. This allowed me to blast through some books. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep up with my goal after this, but I am happy to report that I am still ahead of schedule! I have been tracking my books using Good Reads. According to their tracker, I’ve read fourteen books so far and am two ahead of schedule. Take a look at what I’ve read so far:
Here are some of my thoughts on what I’ve read so far:
The Harry Potter Series
This is not my first time reading this series (more like the tenth). I was inspired to read through it again after watching the reunion on HBO at the beginning of the year. This is what brought my goal ahead so much. I PLOWED through this series. It was a nostalgic experience, and I imagine I will read this series many more times in the future.
The Broken Earth Trilogy
I finished the Stone Sky, the last book of the trilogy this year. This book is science fiction and takes place in a dystopian world unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I don’t want to give too much away, but the storytelling and the worldbuilding in this series was amazing! I am looking into reading more by this author and I have some high hopes.
The Song of Achilles
I will be honest, this book made me SOB. Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but the love in this story is book was beautiful and tragic, and I wish I could read it again for the first time.
My “To Be Read” list is quite long at the moment. I have been getting a lot of book recommendations from The Plant Based Bride on Youtube. She is a Canadian-based booktuber who has a large focus on reading diverse stories from diverse authors. Her favorite genres intersect with my favorite genres and I have gotten a lot of good recommendations from her videos.
I hope you enjoyed this peek into my Q1 reads. If you have any book recommendations, drop me an email at theoreganojournal@gmail.com! I would love to hear your suggestions.
